i just got a skunk clown today, i have airstones in my tank and he keeps swimming into the current and getting pushed up to the top, then he's swims back and does it again for a while. is this okay, or should i be concerned

Airstones in the tank? Shouldn't have airstones in a salt tank. I think it creates skimmer effect with the top of your water. As far as the fish goes he either really likes the current generated and is just coasting for food in the water column or you have poor oxygen content in your tank. What filtration do you use? Are you turning the water over a couple times and hour?

Ive read on here accounts of this, and people said nothing out or ordinary, hence name clown fish, goofy swimmers actions sometimes. I have seen several get in the powerhead flow, and then get swooshed off, and go back and do it again and again. Like bd said, check your water quality and unless you think they aren't getting oxygen or other problem, he's just having fun? Thats my .02

yeah, i'm sure the oxygen is fine, none of my other fish have exibited any problems. i have a penguin 330 so it's about a 6X turnover with 1 airsone at each end of the tank

They aren't bad but thats the whole point of bubbles in a skimmer. To trap organics in the water and shoot them to the surfce where they can be collected. If you notice Gunk building up on the surface of your water youll know the airstones did it :)

this is true. It will also lower your salinity over time, by popping the bubbles then salt creep occurrs.
Take the stones out, get more powerheads. It will be fine to oxygenate the water.
As for the clown behavior, my true perc loves to swim into the current of the PH an just hang there. Its really funny to watch.
