the system has 2 Percs, 2 Platinums, 1 Snowflake/Fancy pair, 2 Black and White Ocellaris, 1 Snow Onyx/Onyx pair.
multiple 10 gallon tanks have been plumed together and will be adding more.

Make sure your not stepping on any copyrite or trademark or livestock laws by breeding specialty clownfish. You dont want to get sued for breeding them by the companies that have taken years to breed those traits out of them.
Best of luck!

I have seen multiple people online breed these clowns and haven't seen any word on it being illegal.
I don't see clownfish being illegal to breed since the company can't separate the males from females.
Could be wrong.
But I'll look more into it.

Yeah
It is perfectly legal to breed clown fish and sell them no matter what trait characteristics are present. The only thing that could be patented trademarks are the names of the fish such as Platinum, Snowflake etc.
Easy fix, just change the name lol
You can't patent genetic traits as of now, I might add. In the future, nothing would surprise me.

It's not necessarily patenting a life form, rather then a specific gene sequence that gives characteristics that are desirable. This patent law was primarily made for Con Agra and Monsanto who patent specialized seeds for farming. But, it has other applications as well. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/13/opinion/13crichton.html?_r=0 If you do some more digging you can find more information from the gov't websites.

Genes and genetic traits are one of the main things that they do patent, especially in the medical field. A gene is the code for an allele which is expressed as a physical characteristic of an organism. So, yes, they can patent genetic traits.
