new coral quarantine? treatment?

Do people recommend QT of new corals? Or is it okay just to put them into the main tank right away? How about prophylactic treatment with a disinfectant coral dip? Seachem makes "Coral Dip" I think... Would it be good to dip new corals in a solution for 1 hour before introducing them into the main tank just to kill of any parasites? Or would that harm the new corals more than benefit them? I would appreciate any advice based on experience...
Thanks!

I have always just added them to the display and have never had a problem introducing a parasite. Just make sure you acclimate them slowly so they can adjust to different water conditions and don't put the water from the bag into the tank. I never used coral dip, maybe someone else can give some input.

dont know about any coral dips, but IMO i would be cautious, most parasite killers use copper whichis lethal to corals
but the good news is that i have yet to hear of corals carrying parasites(could happen i guess, just have not heard of it)

I have heard and read about parasites / diseases on corals.
Anyway, I have a bottle of SeaChem's Reef Dip Coral Disinfectant. It says that it "contains elemental iodine complexed to a protective slime coat for safely and gently disinfecting corals... effective against bactera, fungus, and protozoans... may be used prophylactially (without evidence of disease)... safe for stony or soft corals... also safe for anemones and polyps..."
So it has no copper. The directions say to add 1 capful to 1 gallon of aquarium water in a separate container and to place the coral in the dip solution for just 5-10 minutes... with clear and accessable lesions, dip concentrate may be painted on lesions directly before placing in dip... double dose may be used in severe cases...."
What do you think? Sounds like there would be no harm in dipping new corals in a mild dip solution of this stuff for 5 min...
Has anyone had any bad experiences with this type of dip?
