Check out the new PC lights thread near the bottom of this page. That's about right IMO. :D

what if i were to split the times so i can enjoy the tank while i am home......? is that bad run it like this
actenic 6-12 p.m. then 3-10p.m
daylight 7-11 p.m. then 4-11 p.m.
and the lunar when they are off?

you may want to only run the lights for about 12 hours a day, but you can run them longer, it depends on how your algae bloom is. I would just set the actinics to come on 1 hour ealier and one hour later than the daylights.

i have one of those coralife lights, the one that also has the lunar LEDs. the problem i have is that the automatic power center i bought (also from coralife) doesn't allow that much flexibility. the lunars are always on, but the timer is just an on/off that controls both the white and blue lights at the same time. more of an arctic circle setup i guess. if anyone knows of a better timer, let me know. i can always put this other one on the QT.

sounds like you may have the same lights. be careful which canopy you get. i'm not able to use the legs that they sell with that light, it makes it too high up, and the canopy won't fit on over it. for now i've just taken off the legs and put the light right on the glass. hopefully it won't shorten the life of the lights too much. am thinking about sawing off the plastic legs to allow the canopy to still fit and get the light off the glass at the same time.

the light has three plugs coming out of it. one LED lunar, one actinic, one daylight. the power center was misleading. it has a row of 4 that are always on, and my lunar LEDs, heater, pump, and protein skimmer are on that row. the remaining plugs are 2 yellow and 2 blue. i thought i'd be able to do the white and blue lights separately, but the timer is yellow on and blue off and that left me with the option of only using the yellow outlets and the blue ones are empty. but now that i think of it i might as well plug the lunar LEDs into one of the blue outlets, since they don't really need to be on with the white lights. still can't configure the sunrise/sunset with this power center though.

I think I have the same light, on mine the fan only comes on with the blue lights, so I doubt you ever want to have the white lights on without the blue. (well, you could always reverse the bulbs, i suppose, but you still have the same problem).
I turn on my blue light about 9:30 in the morming, then 10:30 the white joins the blue, then about 8:30 at night the white goes off, and 9:30 the blue goes off.. then about 11 the led turns on (and shuts off in the morning, maybe 7:00 aM or so).
Everybody in the tank seems to like this setup, enough algae for my algae eaters...

so do you have 3 separate timers, or is there a power center that does all this for you?
