I just got a new Janss's pipefish....and a little dwarf seahorse!

i just got done acclimating him to my 10 gallon. i talked to the guy at the lfs, he said the dwarfs would be fine with my false perc clown. so, i turned off the small powerhead in the ten gallon, prolly gonna use it for my freshwater clam breeding plans for next spring.
so i put him in, he immediately found some chaeto and hung onto it. him and the pipefish were exhuasted from there ride home. the pipefish pretty much went right to a corner in the rock and laid down, and the seahorse looked tired on that chaeto as well. hopefully tomorrow i will go up there and find the little horsey eatin at some pods or something.
and i can't currently do pics or videos cause my comp won't let me upload anything and i'm not sure why. but pics of hte dwarf, pipefish, and my tanks coming as soon as i can.

um...Congrads
I am,however, very concerned about your choice of tank mates. May I ask why you decide to combine a pony, pipefish, and a false perc TOGETHER in a 10 gallon tank??????????

you do have your brine shrimp hatchery set up for you dwarf seahorse~right? Dwarf seahorses ONLY eat live baby brine shrimp.
....just a tad worried, you did say you put a pipe fish, dwarf seahorse, and a false perc into a 10 gallon tank all together, right???

Well where are our pics???
R u sure its a dwarf??? The lil guys & gals Rykna sent me could def be beaten up and outcompeted for food.
I know u have been raising BBS in a bucket right?? I at least think I remember u posting that b4 so that is good but I would def consider moving the clown

woh, calm down everyone!!!!
(EDIT: yes it's a dwarf, it's like an inch or less long)
no no no, the pipefish is in the 55g. i would never put a pipefish in anything lower then a 30 gallon O.O
the dwarf has been eaten brine shrimp, he had a good first night, found him holding onto the cord NOT plugged in, to the powerhead, not far from the chaeto he was on last night when i put him in the tnak. my perc eats the bigger brine shrimp but he seems to be favoring the pellets i feed him. i don't expect the dwarf (and future dwarfS) to have any trouble finding brine.
i started a new hatchery last night so i can feed him newborns right from a hatchery aswell.
the dwarf is doing fine...but one problem, a NAME. I can't think of one, hehe.
the pipefish is doing good in the 55g. only other thing in there is the yellow watchman goby. the pipefish has been at the back wall alot since thats where the majority of the pods are, he is having a feast! i forgot to mention on my first post the pipefish was in the 55g tank not the 10, hehe, sorry about that. and i am gonna work with my stupid comp today and try to get all my stuff uploaded or soemthin. i can't upload right now to anything, it bring sup errors. but i'll work with it for pics. well, vids, my dad's camera can't take a fish pic for it's life, but my mini vid camera takes nice videos of the fish.

the dwarf is by far the best thing i have ever bought

the false percs are the most laid back clowns aswell, he won't bug the dwarfs.
don't worry guys, it's all under control.
didn't expect everyone to freak out

What else do you have in your 55?
IDK...I would never put false percs in with my kudas much less with poor defensless little dwarf ponies...that little guy won't be able to out compete a perc for food. Hopefully you can find a better placement for your clown.

there the most calm fish...i've watched, my clwon doesn't eat the smaller brine, he just likes the pelllets and the bigger brine. he will fine plenty of food, i have no doubt.
it's funny, when an adult posts somethin like that, people wouldn't think much of it...btu when a kid does, every time i postsomething about getting fish, people are concerned with ym every move.

I dont think it because you are a kid, I didnt know how old you were until last week. You have researched enough to know that clowns are not even suitable for lrg seahorse tanks, let alone dwarfs. Not only are you taking a chance of it hurting your ponie, you are taking a chance of introducing pathigens and hydroids (thru pellet food) to your tank. Your clown may be gentle now, but what happens in a few months when it gets bigger. The older they get the more agressive they get.

Exactly Teresa.
Zeke, believe me, these posts have nothing to do with your age...they have everything to do with the well being of your critters and your success in keeping them healthy and happy. We are talking from experience...some of them not very nice experiences.
You would not be the first to go the untroddened path with your set up, but then you would probably not be the first to come back somewhere down the line to state that what people have posted was correct. It's up to you which way you would like to go.
Good luck
Lisa

yes, i've researched for nearly a year now. enough to know that false percs are the most gentle and kind percs, mine is pretty much full grown by now. false percs are the only clwons you can put with horses, because there alot nicer then other clowns.
i wouldn't put a horse in there if i thought there was a chance of it being out eaten or hurt. false percs, specially mine, are more gentle and nicer to other fish.

the clwon is on one side of the tank, and usually never leaves very far from his plant pot he hosts. there the nicest clwon that have been proven to be safe with horses and mine doesn't prefer small brine. he rarely eats the large brine i give him.
i wouldn't put a dwarf in there if i didn't think it was gonna work out.

man i wish there where more ppl like u guys and gals on the rest of the forum u care so much about the fish
and zeke congrads on the ponies.. im still working on my ponie tank and researching
and i no nothing about pipefish but are they cool with other fish or do they need there own tank???

Pipe fish, like seahorses should be in thier own tank. Most all are wc and should be treated for worms. they can carry pathigens that are harmful to horses, esp if the horses are CB. If mixing they should be qt for 6 to 8 weeks. CB horses have no immunity for wc pathigens.

yeah pipefish are really hard to breed in captivity so most are WC. of course, like i said on another forum, pipefish and seahorses are cool with small slow moving fish, or fish that don't get territorial and are aggressive eaters. small gobies and stuff are good with them.
and yes, i whatched mine last night for like an hour, and they are awesome.

dwarf is still doin great.
and like i said ny, my comp ain't lettin me upload pics

how many dwarves a can fit in a 10 gallon? i'd love to get him a few friends.
also, if there is ANY problem whatsoever witht he dwarf being wiht the false perc, wich i don't suspect there wil be, i'm gonna setup a backup 5 gallon tank today, just in case. but i don't expect any problems.
