New fish combo

I was thinking about which fish I would like to add to my tank and was hoping someone would know if these fish would get along with each other or not. Right now i have a pair of Ocellaris clowns and a Sixline wrasse. They get along fine and are still babies. I really want to get another Banggai Cardinalfish (bought a sick one and it died 3 days later). And i was considering these other 3 also. A purple fire fish, Bi-color Bleeny and Mandarin fish. Any thoughts?

What size tank do you have?
The only issue you might have is with your sixline wrasse. They are usually not nice to newcomers. It may pick on the firefish and mandarin, but a lot is dependent on the personality of the wrasse and how large your tank is.

Here is your own combat chart.

I dont recomend a mandarin for anything less than a 100gal + tank, your 6 line will compete for pods.

Nice little "Freudian Slip" there.
Normally thought of as a "Compatibility Chart", but looked at the other direction, all N
combinations will result in COMBAT!
-or did you mean it that way?

I'm glad you got my slip. "N" in any direction means trouble.

thanks for the chart! looks like they will all be ok with each other. The mandarin is the coolest one I think but the last one I would get. I know their diet is hard to keep up with. As for the sixline, he is a pretty easy going lazy fish. he has claimed his little cave and spends his time in there or digging in the sand. He comes out when i feed them and to pick at the rocks. But had no issues when I put the clowns in with him. i don't know if he is still young or not because i didn't buy him he came with the tank, but hes about the same size as the clowns I just bought a few weeks ago. Maybe 1 1/2 -2 inches. Right now they are in a 56 gallon tall tank but will be moved to a 110 soon.

I have some advise for you, research all you can about the care for the mandarin. It is a beautiful fish, but with out the proper care it wont be for long. Good Luck

How dose everyone feel about ordering the fish on line vs LFS? mine doesn't have that big of a selection. How often do they die from being mailed?

Saltwaterfish.com sells healthy fish and many people on this forum order from them. They also offer a 2 week guarantee on their fish, which many LFS's do not, which is something to consider.

They are currently out of the bi color bleeny I wanted and they do have the cardinal fish but they are wild caught. I think I will wait until they have a tank breed one in. I have read that they are very heavily over plucked from the oceans. I decided to only buy tank raised fish because it doesn't seem right to pull them from their huge home in ocean and stick them in a tank just for my own amusement.

I agree with you on that Nicknacs.. when there is the option tank bred are a better and more sustainable option... and usually tend to acclimate better also
Just wait until they have them and hopefully they will have your blenny by then too..

Well I went to the fish store today and didn't get any cardinals because they were wild caught ones still. I actually went to get a cheap thermometer because the built in one on my heater has been pretty screwy since I moved the rock around, now it blinks LF, I'm guessing low flow. But ended up with a really cool tiny bi-color bleeny and 3 fire fish all captive breed. I was only going to get one fire fish but they where on sale for 14.99 each (half price from normal) and then were still buy 2 get one free, so I had to get 3 lol.

Sounds like a good stocklist for your tank! Just make sure you have a tight seal around the top cuz firefish can fit through the TINIEST holes, lol

One fire fish died. The other two are doing good so I guess that it was a plus that one was free anyway. I know not to buy fish from that one store because they all seem to die on me but I couldn't help myself.
