New Fish/Experiment

I've been wanting to try this for awhile. I have a 55 gallon tank which already has a flame angel in it. I bought a coral beauty angel today. I have heard stories of success with keeping 2 angels in a 55 successfully. My flame angel is very docile and is not the "boss" of the tank like many are. I have already planned with my LFS that if it does not work out that I'll be able to return him for the price I payed. I really hope this works out because they are both very beautiful fish. I'll keep you guys posted on what happens.
(I'll also post a picture when hes not acclimating)

nope not gonna work.
My "docile" flame angel has done nothing but harass the coral beauty. Even my clownfish are picking on him. MY CLOWNFISH

So basically gonna return him tmrw
(luckily lfs is only a mile away)

You may need to give it more than an hour. A lot of fish get picked on a lot when they are first introduced into an existing tank.
But if the flame angel is attacking it like it's going to kill it then, yes I would take it back.

+1 on this one. I has both in a 72 and never had any problems. Are both fish about the same size?

Woke up this morning and the coral beauty was dead :(
I am definitely on the side now of against even attempting it

Well not everyone has the same results. You shouldn't have picked out such a bully for a flame angel!

There is a reason most angels cannot go together, especially dwarf angels The only time you might get success is if they are put in the tank at the same time and the tank is very large, but even then I would not even try it. Not a very responsible move. A dwarf angel will even kill a large angel, they will pick at it to the point of descaling it then it dies from stress, shock or infection.

For shame.

It was worth a try, but I think you would have had much better chance if you introduced them both at the same time. Did you move the rock work around?

Not trying to start a war here because you probably have 1st hand experience of them not working out...I know it is a risk but that is with almost anything in this hobby. I have seen plenty of tanks with more than 1 dwarf angel that did not have problems.

It usually does NOT work out. Why risk the life of an animal for your enjoyment? I know that we strive to provide the best life possible for our tankmates, but puting two dwarf angels in the same tank is not only irresponsible it is cruel. so why even do it?

We are all risking the lives of fish and inverts for our enjoyment

I know that we are, but like I said we try to be responsible and do the best we can to provide them with a healthy good life. Introducing two fish that will kill eachother is not responsible. This point IMO is'nt even arguable.
