New fish--I think I have a new favorite

Received the first fairy wrasse that I have ever owned this week and I think I have a new favorite fish. He is in QT now but seems to be adjusting quite well. The first night he showed a little interest in food (very little but it was only about 3 hours after he acclimated that I fed) but since then he has been eating well. He hid a lot the first couple of days, and still is in a back corner a fair amount, but he is out more and more everyday. Seems to be adjusting well and has great coloration.

What a beautiful fish!! My daughter added a fairy wrasse to her tank 2 weeks ago...a redhead fairy, I think (?). Just gorgeous and full of personality!!
Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see him home in the display.

Thanks for the comments. I see some of the other fairies talked about some, but you hardly ever see the exquisite mentioned. I love the green body color on this fish, and my cheap camera doesn't even begin to grab all the highlight colors that it has. Simply an awesome fish color wise.

Don't forget they're major jumpers. I had a pair of Linneatus Fairy Wrasses and lost them both through a hole in the cover cut to allow for a return.

I was looking at getting one. Know I have to think a little harder.
maxwell, nice! If you would just send me videos everyday then I would not worry about it and watch ours.

Crap I would still worry.

Calvertbill I am aware of the jumping potential of these fish and the aquarium he is going in is covered. Thanks for the info though.

I worry about it enough when it is just mine, if it is ours I would feel doubly responsible. Thanks for the good wishes.

A couple of picstures of him now in the DT. He seems to be doing very well. Swims all over the tank, and eats anthing I feed. Enjoy.

Yes, they should leave all coral and most if not all fish alone. You may have to watch them with shrimp like any other wrasse. HTH.

Yeah, they are great little fish. I can't wait to get one!!! I am still trying to decided which type I want.

Cool! Although, the shrimp thing worries me a bit. We've got two cleaner shrimp... They would be in peril with a wrasse as a tank-mate?
Btw, what does HTH stand for?

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I really like this fish. He is always out and moving. Seems to get along great with everyone in the tank. I was trying to decide between this guy and a mystery wrasse, and while the mystery is cool as well he is twice the price and I am a cheapskate.
Hadley, the fairy's are the least agressive towards shrimp of any of the wrasses (at least that is my understanding) but depending on the fish they may still pick at them. And HTH is hope that helps.

My LFS has a huge fairy wrasse that some one gave to them because its so mean. that fish tore a Hippo tang in half and after than the guy give him to the store to put in they're live rock tank.
