If you have a small tank "nemo" might be the only character fish you can get, but "Jacques" the cleaner shrimp is a great addition to even a small tank!
It's funny, the owner of the LFS I go to, this guy knows a ton about SW fish/corals/everything related, calls the fish by their Nemo names.
The movie started a craze!

While many sites say things like minimum size, you have to remember this is a minimum. Many much more experienced hobbyist than you or I have had bad experiences with tangs in tanks less than 6 feet long (I believe). They can get stressed out, get sick, and die. Again, I have never dealt with this, but my opinion would be not to "test" the limits.

I have read up to 12 inches, but that is probably in the wild. Most literature I have heard says at least 75 gal for a Dory (some even say 125).

All Tangs require at least 125 gallons due to their open sea swimming nature. Anything smaller than that, they will stress out and die.

Blue Hippo in a 55g? Sorry, no way.
Tangs in general prefer 6' long tanks for ample swimming room. I would only put tangs in tanks 125g and bigger.

And probably easier to care for than the Moorish Idol..But I would say neither for this situation

When they give you min tank size, it's what you need right now, NOT when they are full grown. Hippos, from what I understand, can get to 12" and need LOTS of swim room. This is why I got a 125 gallon, my girls wanted Nemo and Dory, so I got the tank big enough to hold what I wanted.

I know I'm jumping in late here but Gil as already stated was a Moorish Idol. Very hard to keep and usually not suggested for anyone as they tned to do very poor in an aquarium. You may want to consider a (Heniochus diphreutes) Longfin Bannerfish aka. the poorman's Moorish Idol. I didn't do a lot of research as far as requirements go but from what I understand they are much better suited to the aquarium.
