New frag tank, in garage?

Sorry Michael, I didn't see you post until now. I tested everything in the garage and had to make several tweaks as I went. What is the purpose of heating and smashing the pvc? How does that provide more flow? Actually I had to much flow from the return so I've got the ball valves dialed down a bit. I'm using a mag 7 (700 gph) and the pump is only 12 inches below the outlet in the top container. I am also in the process of adding a spray bar at the other end.

looks wonderful!!!!! excellent job bud....are you going to find it hard to work with the sump if you need anything for that?

The sump/fuge has one egg crate box, no top to hold chaeto in the center. That is completely surrounded with live rock, two heaters, return pump and one powerhead (for fuge circulation).
The sump/fuge will not be the easiest thing to work in, but hopefully that won't be required often. I added a small access hole to add suppliments into it and I have a peice of tubing that can go on the end of the powerhead in the top container and the other end in this hole so that all/most of the water can be pumped out. Then I can lift the top container off. I'm happy with it, but not everyone would be.

Yeah, my wife was pretty understanding, although I think she was just worried if she said no that I'd put it in the living room
The closet is always open (there is a door, but it is always open) and there is an ac vent and cold air return in there, not sure why they put a cold air return in a closet in a new house, but it works for me.

very nice build
and as a bonus you have tons of womens cloths there you can use to soak up any big spills if needed.

just a thought here. does the closet stay closed or open? if it is mostly closed you may end up with a mildew problem due to excess humidity build up in the closet, especially on clothes that arent worn a lot. and wall corneres with low air flow etc.
love the setup by the way, very innovative.

The closet is always open and I don't know why, but it has a cold air return and an ac vent. I'm still scratching my head about why they would have put those in a closet on a new house (4 years old), but I appreciate it.

GREAT thread! Love the husband /wife thing as I go thru it also. What did it really cost you to get the wife to agree? A new appliance, new clothes, come'on be honest!
The frag tank looks great. I would suggest putting a small fan (like used in a lighted hood, to move air down the cold air return. It will dissapate humidity throughout your home instead of building up in a closet. Once again great frag set up and hats off to any guy who can get the spouse to agree on our hobbies!

I'll keep an eye on moisture. if it's a problem I'll add a fan.
Really the wife just said yes. I thought it would be a battle, but it wasn't

Our master closet has the same thing and I think it's because you enter ours through the master bathroom. Also the air circulation helps clothes stay fresh.
