Baffles were a little higher than the skimmer he has would allow and instead of "teeth" on the baffles, I drilled holes instead. Accomplishes the same thing as the teeth, holds macro and sand back.
will the holes flow all that his pump will be pushing? i don't doubt your design or construction its just when i made my second sump, i did the same thing, however i didn't take into account how much my pump would actually be pushing and the holes were not enough to allow all the water to make it through, so water would go through the holes, but it would also continue to rise until it would go over the baffle i drilled the holes in. i ended up putting a piece of plastic gutter guard on top of that baffle to stop some of the chaeto from spilling over. the gutter guard actually clipped right onto 1/4" acrylic perfectly. so thats an idea for those who don't want to cut teeth.
