I just received from SWF a green Haddoni carpet. This morning it looked terrible. The mouth was open about an inch. Still had good color. Water: 1.024 SG, 8.4 pH, 490 Ca, 10 NO3, Alk high. All others clams, acros, BTA's fish doing well. It is under a 250w 10K, on the sand but has moved to the rocks. Tried to feed last night but would not move the sivler side to the mouth, just held on for about five minutes then let go. Tenticles were very sticky. And thoughts? This is a 150gal tank that has been runining for five plus years. Been very stable and yes that 10 NO3 is stable does not move very much.

The fact that you just recieved it could be the answer. It could simply be a case of acclimation shock for right now. Give it a couple of weeks, but continue to watch it.

an update from my wife is that it looked like its stomach was sticky out of its mouth this am. Now the stomach is back in, color still good and tenticles looked like they were moving/viberating.

Any chance of a pic?
Always worries me when someone says they can see its insides like that, or worse the RBTA about a week or so ago that we could see right through  but wound up fine.
Sounds like you could see into its actinopharynx, but as long as you didn't see any of the mesenterial filaments it should be fine. Still sounds like its just acclimating itself.

Just an update: I have mailed him back to SWF. His insides were outside and falling apart. I feel real bad.

Ouch.. Very sorry to hear that.
How did you acclimate him?
Was there any damage that you could tell do to shipping when you got him?

Well did not see any damage in the shipping but, something must have been wrong as my boys each got a 3-stripe damsel for thier nano's and they also died within a day for one and two days for the other. As for aclimating the carpet I followed the directions that are on the SWF web-site. I have even re-tested the water an still in good shape.
