I don't think you have to worry about breeding him....he won't be around long enough for that, not in a 14 gallon tank

unless he eats mysis and prepared foods it isnt going to be long for your tank.
sorry to be so negative but they are speacialized feeders and have to have pods to eat. If they arent eating prepared foods they can wipe out the pod population within a few weeks and then slowly starve.
the recomended amount of LR is 100# and atleast 6 months or older and a stable pod population.

Breed with what? Your tank is much to small for 1 much less 2 of these fish. You need to return the little guy, its the humane thing to do.

agree..as stated in the past posts that tank is way to small for it..and even if it was eating other foods they can not survive on that alone..i would take it back for sure..they eat pods and you need a a tank with lots of lr and a fuge helps alot too

I've never heard of them breeding...how old is your tank? I agree with everyone it is way too small. I sympathize with you, they're wonderful fish.

Not to be mean or anything, but to put it in perspective.
It would be like taking you and locking you up in a refrigerator box and force feeding you raw potatoes for the rest of your life.
I barely have enough tank with a 72 gallon bow, and I replenish my pods even with a refuge every couple of months.

Ditto on the other comments. I want one too and understand why you purchased him. It is cool looking. But what the others say is so true. I have a 125g that is only 6 months old but am waiting for a more mature tank. I too am concerned about him starving so I want to make sure that he has enough food first. Sorry to support bad news!
