New Heaters

I want to know how many people have had defective heaters ruin their tanks? I came home last night and my tank was at 100F. Needless to say all of the fish, snails and coral were cooked. I am now planning on buy new heaters every two years.
Two total tank crashes in 2 months, **** I love this hobby!

Sorry to hear that... I have had two heaters go bad but fortunately both times I caught them in time.
Here's what I do fwiw... I buy small heaters but have 4 in my 110g. That way if one goes bad it leaves more time to find it before cooking the tank.

Just wondering what brands are those bad heaters.
It would be nice to know just incase i have the same one or to make sure i stay away from buying it.
