Mandarin, I'm like you. I think I just made the decision....no more LFS...I'm ordering online! They also sold me a Peppermint Shrimp that was about 1" long. When I put him in the tank, the Sally Lightfoot ran over to him, and I never saw him again. I guess something in my tank made a meal out of him. They are VERY familiar with what I have in my tank and the entire set up. Well, they just lost a customer!

Ok, Sign Guy....You've got to talk English with me! LOL! What are you referring to and where can I get this stuff? How much longer can they go without eating? I probably need to do something fast! They're only 2-3 polyps left on this rock!

Our LFS that was in my home town used to do the same crap.
In fact years ago when I was very first in the hobby, I used to go to him, (he was four blocks aways from my house. His wife and I were good friends, and he knew my kids well. He also knew my daughter is deadly alergic to bee stings and spider bites. She has to walk around with an epi-pen. Knowing this, and knowing that I figured he was a friend, I trusted what ever he told us. That SOB sold us a Fox face. He also knew that my daughter loved to help with cleaning the tank. He never said a word about the foxface being venemous. Hell when my daughter and I would go to the store, he would ask her to help him work on the different tanks. He was just in it for the $$$.
He put my daughters live at risk just so he could go traveling around the world.
That is when I learned never trust your LFS, no matter who they are.

dt's is phitoplkankton ( you will find with time that I can't spell.....and Im ok with that) your lfs was right coral is a filter feeder but you still have to put food back in the tank cal = calcium and it is absaltly useless without mag= magnisium these allow coral to grow. If you do enough water changes you will not need any other supliments

Amen,
After being in the hobby for years and learning quite a bit, now when I got to a LFS man they will buddy up to you, cut you deals, and what not. But what kills me, is while I am there, a newbie will walk in the door. and the owner will rub his hands together and go "cha ching" And Proceed to tell the newbie all kinds of crap. Then proceed to sell them anything and everything they can. Then stand there and laugh at them after they leave. and brag about how they love taking advantage of the newbie. And how it is their own fault for not reading and researching the info like they had too. I've been at three different store and seen this behavior for myself.
By the way I thought I would mention that the friends LFS store went belly up. :jumping:
Karma will get you in the end

You guys are soooo right! Obviously they don't give a darned about the fish or their customers. Just out for a buck. We own an empty building here in the small town we live in here. I swear, I wish I could open a fish store, but don't know enough about it to do so. Maybe one day! :cheer:
Off to the store for some dt's (I never thought I'd be asking for those! LOL! (my sick sense of humor) and Calcium!

Hi, and thanks again for the warm welcome!
Ok, guys...I got some Reef Plus and DT's. They said because I had so much coralline algae in the tank, that was an indication of high calcium and they wouldn't recommend adding that now. I wasn't sure what to do, so I just got the above. I put some in the tank, but nothing looks different yet. I hated even going back there. I swear, I think I'm going to start buying everything online like you guys said. They were telling me that it's normal for several polyps to fall off the rock when you put it in the tank. I have no clue. Anyway, if anyone else has any recommendations, I'm open ears!
I'll probably do a water change tomorrow. What percentage should I do? Also, I forgot to get RO/DI water so can I get by with Distilled one more time? We're supposed to have really bad weather tomorrow and I didn't want to drive in it!
