Considering everything that he was giving me for only 200 bucks, it was too hard to pass up. I mean, just one of the fluval filters ALONE costs like 250.
My friend just told me yesterday that he knew a guy who lost his house. He gave him his fish so they wouldn't die and abandoned the 250 tank and all the trimmings. He said he couldn't find anyone to take it and only wanted $200.00 for all of it plus the fish.
Too late now...I told my friend he had my number, what was he thinking! He said I just set up the 90g and didn't think I would want it.

I never win at BINGO either. I don't even bother with lotto.

Very nice job. Under you tank you have almost the same things as I do, I thought I was looking at a mirror.

Ok, heres the pics of my new foxface, they aren't great pics but they'll have to do for now...
I acclimated him for about two hours.




Such a beautiful fish!! I absoulutely love the way he flicks his spines up and down!

UPDATE:
Spent 3 hours today cleaning my filters, changing my background, and rearranging my live rocks. I also got rid of the plastic plants... Here's the pics....

After I cleaned the fluval, sump, and skimmer....I added my other fluval on the other end of the aquarium. the original hose broke for it so I had to order new parts, which will hopefully get here tomorrow.

New arrangement of live rocks as well as the new background (now I can pretend I have a reef, haha)

New pic of the foxface, or as I have come to call him "Spike".

And again! such a cutie!

Stewie (my royal gramma) absolutely loves all the new caves and tunnels...He spent the whole day exploring.

This new arrangement is ALOT easier on my filtration cuz it allows for alot better circulation and expelling of wastes. Can't wait to see how clear my water gets as soon as I get the other canister up and running!!
Anyways, I hope you guys like the new arrangement, and as always feel free to comment

tank is coming along nicely :) i love your stand/canopy
looks wayyy better without the fake plants
if you want you could try a solid color background, that may add to the saltwater look

Thank You JJJoey!! I agree, the fake plants look terrible. Especially after they start to get a little bit of algae on them. As for the background, I have a straght black one i might use after a while, but for now Im enjoying this one. (plus its a pain in the ass to change lol)

haha ya the fake plants are a drag to change and trust me if u start into corals it is the most fun and streesfull thing u will do..

I think what I will probably do is keep this tank fish-only, and eventually in a few months, set up a nano reef tank. I LOVE reef tanks and reallllllly would like to have one myself. However I think I need to slow myself down and just stick to mastering the art of keeping fish alive first lol

On that note, I ordered two heniochus butterflys that will be arriving tomorrow. This is the first time that I have ever ordered from saltwaterfish.com and I am excited to get fishies delivered to my doorstep!
The 2 butterflys will be the last addition to my tank for a good month or so, as I dont want to overwhelm my tank. so far I think I'm doing pretty well. After the butterflys are added, my stock count will be 8 fish.
Tonight I did a 15 gallon water change and treated the water with a very small dose of Rid-Ich, just in case...and because one of my clowns recently developed a couple white dots on his side. I also turned my heaters up to about 79.5 (normally keep it around 78.5) cuz I heard that can help with ich problems too.
Finally, I tested my water tonight and pH was at 8.4, ammonia and nitrites 0, and nitrates were 20!

Sooooo my heni's arrived yesterday. I was anticipating fedex to arrive at around 3pm, however apparently when your box says "livefish" on it that means they put you at the very end of their route list. My fishies didnt show up at my doorstep until about a quarter to 7!! I was mad...
But I acclimated as usual, and despite the larger guy being very disoriented for the first few hours (swimming upside, running into things) they seem to be doing fine.

The foxface wasn't looking too thrilled.
I've ran a Fluval 404 for 3 years and keep a bunch of coral, as well as fish. I've heard the same "get rid of it", all along. I also have a 350 gph HOB Skilter, which I never need to turn the skimmer on. I would recommend you step up to a T5 lighting unit, if you ever plan on having any kind of coral or live plants. With my 125g tank, I didn't plan on getting any coral, but after getting some mushrooms and zoas on some LR I bought, I'm hooked. I just keep zoas, mushrooms, xenias, kenyas, grees star polyps(new) and frogspawn(also new). The T5 works well for these, as they're low-moderate light coral and I just bought a 250w metal halide(I'm making one of my 29g a dedicated nano reef). Anyway, beautiful fish-be prepared for the coral bug to bite if you get some as hithikers on some LR.

I just reread and noticed the "ich" part. That is really bad news for the butterflies, they can go from 0 to dead in a day or two from ******(marine ich). Be prepared to act quickly and aggressively(hyposalinity since there's no coral). You need a quarantine tank ASAP. For the amount of fish, you need at least a 29g, but that will still take 4 weeks or so to cycle. Not trying to be a downer, but ****** in the DT is very bad.

Thanks for the heads up mantis...I know I need to get a QT, and I will as soon as I can afford it. Lol quite unfortunately I have used up most of my resources setting up the DT, and even just buying a cheap tank for a QT is a stretch for me right now. I'll probably see if I cant find a used one somewhere, and refurb it, like a garage sale...anyways, IT IS top priority though!
As far as the white dots, it appears as if the dose of rid-ich actually did do the trick. The clowns now seem to be completely spot free. Although I will never use disease treatment in my DT again, because I found out afterwards that it can damage or even KILL the nitrifying bacteria living on my live rocks :(
lol it seems like I always find out that the stuff I am doing is wrong, AFTER having already done it.
Anyways, I appreciate all the help everyone on this board has given me thus far...I didn't anticipate this hobby being SOOO much work, however, I am loving every minute of it!
