new leather (what kind?)and a 'what is it' pics

I got a new leather yesterday and was wondering if anyone knew what kind it is. The second pic is fuzzy but I am hoping someone knows what it is. It stays under the sand and has green grass-like pieces floating above the sand.(moves like a worm when I take it out of the water)

Thanks, I thought maybe it was but this is my first leather. I wish I could get a better pic of that other thing.
