ya i was looking at that last night too! The newer one is only like a pound lighter and idk know much about the xp-g/xp-e...as long as they were 3w crees, i was happy lol!
Prob was the older one cuz i got it at the not so LFS and it was only $350...no tax cuz my club discount....but still, on the site theyre like $400!
Yeah I wouldn't worry about it, the xp-g's put out more light than the xr-e's being pushed at the same power so they're a little more efficient. Regaudless of either one it has it's still a good deal more output than what the bridgelux chips put out.

Got a fellow hobbyist coming over today with a par meter!!!! Im all LED now so were gonna test my par bulbs (one ecoexotic and one rapids) and my stark fixture!

Cool. Maybe you can post your findings here and a little bit about the specs of each. How many watts is the fixture, what leds, optics and at what current are they being driven at when you test with the meter. In order for it to be a fair comparison you should be able to explain the differences between them.

how do i know wat current they are being drivin at? Is that like 120v and stuff lol???
I can get most of the info from their sites! Also i can measure the height with a measuring tape....
i will deff wright down the readings and where we are reading em at!

Well if someone built one of the rapid kits then they should know what they are using and what they are driving them at. Current meaning amps not volts.
I'm pretty sure ecoxotic is only using 1w leds. And going by a study done by Sanjay Josi they probably won't come close to the par that your fixture or a diy build will put out. But it depends on led counts, type and current too. I think you'll find much better par at depths with your fixture over the Eco's regardless. Interested to see what you find.

ive got a ecoexotic par 38bulb that does indeed use 3w crees! (5 leds)
ive got a rapids par bulb that uses 3w crees but was told it was powered down to 2watts from the guy who assembled it! (7leds)
My stark fixture has 20 leds....3 watt crees...
the bulbs only use like 17w and the fixture is 60w!!!!
Depends on the optics too!
Needless to say after i do some research and put all my data on paper...ill put up a thread!

Yeah but the stunners and panoramas don't use 3w chips and that's what I was trying to get at.
Your fixture uses 17w??? WTH? Who told you that? If that's true then you wasted your money dude. What would be the point of spending money on a fixture powerd at 1/3rd it's capacity? That doesn't sound right to me.
