had a bit of good luck this weekend while helping a friends parents move some of their stuff to a the new house. Their oldest son used to have a burmese python, and couldnt take it with him when he moved out. He wound up giving the snake to a pet store, and fortunately for me, left the aquarium behind. They were going to break it up and throw it away because they had no room for it at the new house. They don't have to be out of the old house until the 1st of july so all of the stuff in the storage shed won't be moved out til closer to that date. Didn't get to see the aquarium cause the shed was so piled up with junk. The dad said that i will probably have to get a different vehicle to move it because it won't fit in my 8 foot truck bed so this has to be one big tank. (he said 600 gallons but i don't know of any company that makes glass aquariums that size) so he could be wrong... I'm really hoping it holds water (he wasn't sure of that either, but for a free tank it's worth it to fill it up outside and see what happens. The only problem is that it is only the tank, no stand, hood, lights or anything else... but it's a start... If all works out, I plan to move my clown trigger from the 90, and get a tessy, grouper, and a couple more large agressives... got my fingers crossed, and hopefully i will have something set up around the end of september. wish me luck!!

picked up the tank today... i think he embelished a little bit as the tank turned out to be 180g rather than 600 ;) good thing i didn't rent a u-haul to go pick it up  but hey, the price was right, and the clown trigger should be happy in there (at least for a while) I think i'm going to look into a purplemouth moray (if anyone has experience with them, i'd love to hear it) and some species of grouper. at least with the smaller tank, i'll have a much easier/less expensive time finding a stand and other equipment...

So this thing leaks like a seive... When i was filling it, i noticed spots in the corners where the seal was scraped away... my question is, should i try to re-seal it, or since i don't have any money invested yet, use the money i would spend on a stand and other equipment to just start fresh and buy a different tank. I'm leaning towards a whole new tank because of my past experience with a leaky one, but if you guys think it may be salvagable, let me know... An LFS said they could special order (drilling and overflow included) a 300g for around $1200. (with stand) this was the best price i was able to find.
