The title says it all really. I went from 55 watts NO too 135 watts PC on a 42 hex. The problem is really that there is a massive amount of hair algea poping up from the lights. The algea on the DSB is the part that is really bothering me. What can I do to limit this growth.
Details:
Lights on from 7:30 am to 8:30 pm
65 watt 50/50
55 watt 9400k
15 watt 50/50
ammonia and trites at .2
trates at 20
Feeding flake in morning and frozen at night.
The rest is in bio...........thanks for responding......
:D

when I up graded my lights to pc's I also had a massive algae bloom, appearently the stuff in your water now has the light it needs to bloom. my bloom went away after a few weeks, also try to lower your trates, and phosphates. a water change may help your ammonia and trites. from what I have read on the board, algae usually comes with a lighting upgrade. try to cut back a bit on the feeding and this should help any phosphate you have, maybe flakes one day and frozen the next.

Thanks for the replys.
Im feeding the flakes once a day and one cube of marine supreme.
Yes plum they are new. I got the three smart lights for 140.00 shipping and all. Good price I thought I couldnt pass them up. Brings me up too 4.5 watts per gallon.
I think I might buy a phosphate sponge and have that help out. Maybe some more snails too.
Any more experiences out there........thanks again.....cheers.
