Just make sure it is cured before you add it to an established tank.

If it is for a new, uncycled tank just put it in. If it is going into a tank that has already cycled you need to cure it to prevent another cycle that will kill all of your fish.
to cure the rock place it in a rubbermaid container or empty tank with a powerhead, heater, and skimmer (if you have an extra). Keep a check on your water parameters and do 50%water changes as needed to keep them in check. This will make sure that alot more life makes it through curing. THe rock from here won't have too much die off so the entire process will only take a few weeks, if that. when all water parameters are zero you are done.
