Is it ever OK to add live rock to a tank after it has cycled? Will this start the cycle all over again?

You can slowly add pieces of CURED live rock. Anything else will recycle your tank. I say buy a piece at a time and work up to your goal.

I just added 20 lbs of new, partially cured, lr to 10 lbs of existing cured lr. My snail, 2 crabs, and several small tube worms are still doing fine. My chemical levels are fine as well. I have a 30 gal, 80W of 50/50, skimmer, biowheel, fluvial biofilter, and big airstone. I have no corals. If you don't have precious cargo in your tank, you can afford to dump in tens of lbs of lr at a time.

My biggest jump was i a 39 gallon. It was a fish only tank for a while, and I decided to go reef. With the fish still in it and everything still moving I added 70 poinds (to the existing 20) of live good cured live rock. I didnt loose a single critter, and my water levels never moved. Call it luck or whatever you want, but if it works once it will work again.

As long as it is cured it should be fine I added about 55-60lbs last week to my 55 gallon, and everything is fine. Just make sure its cured before putting it all in.
Good Luck
