New live rock...

Got some interesting stuff I think, the rock is absolutely beautiful! I got the 45 pounds of Ultra Premium Fiji rock from here...
Anyways just curious about some hitchhikers, I tried looking in some guides but didn't see anything...

These two little tubes in the center of the picture here release a single bubble every once in a while. I was thinking maybe a feather duster of some sort waiting for the lights to go out?

And this almost looks like a coral, but of course I don't think I'd be that lucky!
It kind of has that bee-hive texture on the outside like honeycomb almost

Thanks so much for taking the time to look, even if you don't know what they are!

The second one looks like little tube worms that come as hitchhikers. Is that what you mean in the picture?

Yeah the little tubes themselves don't move, just release bubbles. I was thinking there was some kind of filter feeder in there waiting for the night time possibly...

Dont think so man...They look they might have been larger feather dusters at one time...FD get big but I doubt that is what it is..Might have been at one point or another...I think it is not going to change from what I see now..I have been wrong before though...Where did you get the rock?

Yeah I left the lights off for two hours and looked over the tank with a green flashlight and didn't see anything at all. Possibly either no living hitchhikers or they're jut hidden in all the rockwork.
I got the rock from here, and I must say it is absolutely beautiful!

Here is the tank as it is now with the new rock...

Looking good I just ordered 75 lbs of lr from here for my 65 gal. Don't want to hijack the thread but do you leave the light on when cycling the tank with lr or leave it off. I have 2 power heads, thermometer, skimmer and filter running. I will post some pics when the water clears up. thanks

LR looks great...I'm planning on ordering (2) of the 45-50LB box from here in a couple of weeks.
When you cycle a tank I don't think that you want the skimmer running. I would think that defeats the purpose and will take the tank longer to cycle. You do want everything else running though.

75lbs? The most they carry is a package of 50 lbs, unless you ordered two separate packages but that can get more expensive than one big order. Anyways I guarantee you won't be disappointed, the pictures really don't do it justice at all. So many nice colors and such.
As for the cycling, a lot of people say different things. Some say don't because it promotes algae growth. Personally I keep them on 8 hours a day because my lights aren't terribly strong so I'm not as concerned about algae. Also, in case I have hitchhikers in the live rock it gives them the natural light cycle and makes the tank more enjoyable to view in general. If you have metal halides then I would cut it back to only 5 hours or so to stunt possible algae growth since they are soo much stronger.

I have a current satellite pc bulbs I believe they are 96 watts each. I ordered a 50 lbs and the 25 lbs in the same order so shipping was free here is a pic. I just put the rock in 2-3 hrs ago so the tank is still cloudy. I am very satisfied with my rock.
