Sorry, I posted at the same time that you did. Yes, it will be a few more weeks.
Thanks for the info, all the live rock I have added so far is uncured, so I guess I am on my way to cycling :) Guess I better get on it and add more now so I don't have to wait even longer. From what I understand if I add the rock when I have fish in there then it needs to be cured...?

you can add cured rock to the tank once its established but if its uncured you will have to cure it yourself in a seperate container before adding it to your system.

If the rock that you added is uncured then you should definately be testing for ammonia. If you want to add more then now is the time to do it, or you can always cure it seperately later. Keep the ammonia below 1.00ppm to preserve any life besides algae, coraline which is good, and any hitchikers that you may have on the rock.

So I ditched the fake plants. Also added 13 pounds more of live uncured rock, brings me to a total of 24 pounds of live rock. Still didn't get another powerhead or test kit, but soon after Christmas I will for sure. Making progress though for now at least. Figure it should be ready for fish in about 5 weeks.
Here is a pic of the tank now, enjoy :)

I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a test kit for me. My local store has one made by Red Sea, and the other is by API. Either one better then the other...?
Also, I got a powerhead and was wondering where I should place it...? Should it be in the back blowing toward the live rock, and how high or low should it be in the water? One other question is the powerhead came with an air tube and air valve for oxygenation, but the only way for it to work is for the air valve to stick out of the tank, so this means I can't put the unit very low in the water if I want to use this method. It did come with a plug if I don't want this method in which case I could put it as low as I wanted in the tank. Hope that makes sense, so which method should I use...? Any help and suggestions are much appreciated, thanks!
