New Monti

Got a sweet looking Montipora from my LFS a few days ago and am wondering, what constitutes the alive or fleshy part of it? On other corals I see/feel polyps or other fleshy parts but it's not so clear w/the monti.
Sorry but no pics, but this one looks just like a very, very, large 'shroom w/a green background and orangey bumps all over.
Thanks for your help!

what kind of montipora are you referring to?
do you have a pic?
there is no fleshy part per say, just polyps. if polyps aren't extended, then i'd say it needs some time to get un-stressed.

Here's a pic. I think I can see some very small polyps on the tips of some of the brownish bumps. It feels like a coral-I accidentally touched the surface when placing it in the tank.

Montipora sp. only have a thin skin of live flesh over their skeleton.
Watch out for that patch of Cyanobacter, blow it off with a turkey baster, it will spread & kill. It's a sign that you might not have enough waterflow where you placed the coral.

Thanks! The cyano came with the coral; I didn't realize just what it was and will remove it ASAP.

yeah that looks like chalice, and an awesome one at that. I wish my lfs would sell chalice at monti prices
