I was wondering if this is how most people have there filter set up, or if anyone had any better ideas.
Chamber 1: Protein Skimmer
Chamber 2: Polishing Media, Charcoal Pellets, Bio Balls
Chamber 3: Heater, and Pump
This is this the way the direction said to set it up. It is working OK so far. As of now I only have Live Sand, Live Rock, and a Clean Up Crew in the tank. The tank has been running for about a month now. Here are the readings that I had taken yesterday:
PH: 8.2
Nitrate: 0
Nitrite: 0.25
Ammonia: 0
Phosphate: 0
Carb. Hardness: 12 dkh / 214.8 ppm
Calcium: 360 mg/l ppm

1. Single sponge and carbon bag
2. Chaeto, a couple chunks of LR rubble.
3. Upgraded pump and heater.
Three sponges are overkill, and the rings aren't necessary if you have LR in your tank. I found the carbon was leaving too much residue, so I switched brands on that as well.
I also upgraded my pump, and the name of the game now is making sure their isn't too much resistance through the chambers so the pump doesn't get ahead of them.

Not sure if my setup is any good as I'm a n00b myself, but this is what I have:
Chamber 1: Sponge, live rock and carbon
Chamber 2: Heater and more rock
Chamber 3: Protein Skimmer
