New Nano Tank!

Well here it is! My (Early)Christmas present! It is a new JBJ 24g nano cube. I have a 10g tank that I will transfer into here. This will look much better than my crappy 10 g. My wife said that this will look good enough to put in the living room. It seems like from everbody else I should change the pump out and get a minifuge running in the filter area. I think I'm going to get new sand though. I like the look of peoples black sand bottoms, I was thinking this would look good. I'll probably need to get a little more rock for this guy. It came with a free stand and cost 199.99. I think it was a pretty good deal. Oh and I got a nice florida ricordia I'll have to show when I get it in my 10 gallon tank.

They are sweet tanks I LOVE mine. I have heard some negative side effects of the black substrate although I cannot recall exactly what it was I heard...... Someone else should chime in if they know what I mean. Good luck and keep the pics a comin.

i read that the black sand doesnt reflect the light back up like white sand.
i have black sand and i love it, but my tank is only 12" deep.

Ya I figure that since it is black that it will absorb light instead of reflect it, but I doubt your corals really use the reflected light. I really like the way the black sands look though with corals. It lets the corals pop out with their colors. I'm excited to this baby set up also!

Here is a pic of it with water, sand, and some homemade LR. The water is kinda bubbly/murky right now. It is definately coming around and almost ready for my LR/Corals/fish. I got one of those rotating heads with a maxijet 1200. I went with the 1200 cause they said that the rotating head will lower your flow.

Nice tank
I dont think LR can be home made, it would be base rock because there is nothing "live" in it

Ok, sorry about the terminology. It is base rock that will become live rock in the coming months. I'm just excited to finish it up and get the critters in there!

Well I got everything moved over and it looks great to me! Here is a pic. It was clear and then when I added everything it kinda mixed it up again. Here is a pic of one of my rics.

Here is a pic of my tank this morning. I the transfer I ripped a rohdactis mushroom into thirds. I love that this tank has more room. I'm thinking of adding another fish. Not sure what I want but I'll have to look around.

That seems like a huge bio load to drop into a tank all at once, how did you do it and insure the inhabitants would be happy?

I transfered my 10 gallon tank to it so no problems with a cycle. It is the the seachem Grey Coast sand. It isn't black but it is a dark grey color so it looks pretty nice to me.
