Always run carbon or chemi-pure elite in your tank and replace every 6 months...sponges should be changed weekly...instead of bioballs i run seachem purigen and replace this every 4-6 months...and that's it.

ok... removed bioballs... stuffed a small bag of chemi-pure elite in middle chamber. and filter floss above chemi-pure to fill extra space..
finally got test kits..
params as follows...
pH- 7.7
nitrite -<0.3 mg/l
ammonia - 0mg/l
nitrate--0-5 ppm less than 5
all i could manage to test for ... the kit i purchased has a test for KH but a little confused on how to get the reading any one can help??
just added feather duster ... and two frags of xenia coral.

haha we jsut learned how to use ours too....you do what the instructions say...generally, add one drop, cap the tube, shake. Repeat after each drop until the water changes from blue to yellow. When that happens, you should be a chart that tells you the degrees and ppm. It should have a chart but in case it doesn't I'll re iterate ours here.
0-3 degrees (0-50 ppm) - Discus, Arowana, Elephantnose, Neons, Cardinals, Live plants
3-6 degrees (50-100 ppm) - Most tropical fish including angel fish, cichlids, tetras, botia and live plants
6-11 degrees (100-200 ppm) - Most tropical fish including swordtails, guppies, mollies and goldfish
8-12 degrees (140-200 ppm) - Marine fish and invertebrates
11-22 degrees (200-400 ppm) - Rift Lake Cichlids, goldfish, brackish water fish
Ours has ranged from 9-12 and the guy at the lfs said that that was great. I hope this helps.
:)

i use a buffer to bring mine up.. it took two treatments but worked like a charm and was fairly inexpensive.
im on aol and yahoo.. nrok665@ aol and hfamily369@ yahoo, we will have to exchange shop info, were always looking for new shops to check out with the kids. How cool to have another person so close! This site seems to be hopping with Fl residents

I run my lights about 9 hours on both bulbs. About 11 hours actinics only, then the moonlights and my refugium lights through the night.
