Collected these button polyps on Saturday that i thought were the normal green ones.

I'll give them a while to see how they color up in the tank and post pics in a few weeks.

Nice makai, What are the harvesting regulations there?

There are no regulations on soft corals in Hawaii as far as how much you take. You do need a permit to collect and a permit to sell. I do have a conscious and only take what I need to start my own colony.
I think i grabbed about 10 polyps total of a patch of 100's.

Those are nice! Please do update. I'm interested in seeing if and how the color changes.

thats so baller you can go diving and take stuff...how much does the permit cost?
It’s not what it’s cracked up to be... My PEoAs were collected about 6-8 months ago and i almost got killed. I haven't been back since. Very sharp lava rock cliffs with 10-15 footers crashing on them does not make collecting fun.
The Zoas here are very hard to find. There are very few places to get them that are safe and without scuba, as i do not have nor certified. And of course the places that are safe do not have many.
The two I mentioned are $50 each a year.
What is cool is being able to see the fish and snorkel at any time. After work, after christmas dinner... Ok, i'm rubbing it in now. I paid my dues though... I spent 29 years of my life in Massachusetts.
Catching those fish are another story... I swear they laugh at me when i sneak a net by them. fukkas! lol I've only caught a turkey fish (hawaiian dwarf lion) and a few blennys from the tide pools. Puffer, Wrasse, Triggers, etc... they just play with me and make me look like a fool.
