Straight up my eye...they slice as you go...LOL.....Did you need stitches? That's a mighty big can opener they have for a beak!
Oh and FYI...Jellybean can hold quite well by his beak above his head, he climbs all over his cage and just hangs there for fun.

These stories have been wonderful to read.
I'm so glad about the happy ending to your story, flower!
It's great that you can still visit him!

i used to feed him walnuts in the shell he would break them pretty easy. a bird can hang by their beak but if they are standing straight up and have your finger you just go up and back .they cant hold.i learned alot from other experts when i got him.also had to put a clip in the cage as a lock.i had the ones where you turn the screw like on their rope toys and both birds always unscrewed them. one time i took pliers and really cranked on it .the mcCaw still got it opened.

I know the trick of pushing forward if the bird has your hand. Our fingers are not much stronger than those nuts they crack so easily. I always liked the macaws, they are beautiful. A friend has one named Dolly, she has outlived three owners. She is 108 years old and plucked herself after the death of her owners...she is forever naked now since her feathers won't grow back. She plucked her belly featheres and most of the back ones...she looks like one of those rubber chickens. She does have some tail feathers and some on her wings and head.
I was afriad for Rodney the cockatoo to do that to himself. For something so beautiful to mutilate themselves out of depression is just so sad. I also was told cigarette smoke will make a bird pluck their feathers...Dolly's new owners (of the last 20 years) smoke.
