Ok, I just ordered some Coralife PC lights for my tank. It comes with 2-65 watt 10,000K Daylight & 2-65 watt 03 Blue Actinic Compact Fluorescent Lamps, 2 built in ballasts, 3-3/4 watt Lunar Blue Moon Glow LED Lamps , 2 cooling fans. There are 3 seperate switches to control the daylight, actinic, and lunar bulbs. I want to get the 24 hour cycle going on timers but don't have the foggiest how. Do I put the actinic on for dawn, then the daylight, then back to the actinic for dusk and the lunar for night? Please help.
Also, I am replacing the Perfecto hoods that came with the aquarium. Should I get the plexiglass tops to fit in where the 2 perfecto hoods used to be or leave it open (I'll be getting a wooden canopy in the next few weeks.
thanks for the tips.

Sorry to barge in here, but I had a questions and instead of starting a new thread...
I also have the coralife pc lights, but it is a 30 inch with the 2 fans and 2 separate switches and plugs. They came with 2 50/50 bulbs. Now I was wondering, would in be better in the future, (and can I even do this?) To get one daylight bulb and one atcinic bulb and run the actinic an hour earlier and later than the daylights? Just wondering, thanks! :D

it sounds like you may have the same lights that i have. be careful which canopy you get. i'm not able to use the legs that they sell with that light, it makes it too high up, and the canopy won't fit on over it. for now i've just taken off the legs and put the light right on the glass. hopefully it won't shorten the life of the lights too much. am thinking about sawing off the plastic legs to allow the canopy to still fit and get the light off the glass at the same time.

depending where your tank is located, the fish won't know night from day or day from night. mine is in the basement, and i tend to stay up late, so i keep the lights on from 2 pm until 2 am, since i have no algae problems (so far anyway). i started at 8 hours and have extended it. i have a huge cleaning crew, so that probably helps. if you work all day long and that's when the lights are on, you won't have that many hours to enjoy the lights.
