New Pico Tank Build

Ok, so last week I set up what I thought would be an easy copepod cultivation tank. By today I had a lifeless tank with dead phytofeast in it; and no visible signs of copepods.....
So I decided to take a more proactive approach to the new tank; such as turning it into a mini reef tank!
Went and bought a marineland hang on back biowheel 100, 10 lbs of karib sea live sand along with 4.5 lbs of fiji live rock as well as a 1/2 pound peice of purple cured premium fijian live rock to kind of boost the other pieces.
Here's what was left after cleaning up after the failed copepod tank; a little bit of chaeto and some sand from my 24.

Then the sand. Should be more than enough, but 10 lbs. was the smallest size they sold.

Pile o new live rock :) hand picked

For lighting I'm using an old fixture I had with two new 10 watt 10K, actinic 50 50 PC bulbs.
Oh yeah and I did a 5 gallon water change on my 24 nano, to supply 90% of the water for this tank, so I shouldn't have to worry too much about a cycle I'm hoping!

Here it is starting to clear up a bit

and this is as good as its gonna be tonight:

So yeah, I don't know what the tank theme is going to be yet; So far I was thinking some possibilities like:
option 1:(neat combo); is the set up big enough?
a yasha goby and pistol shrimp
along with some sexy shrimps
and then have all varities of mushrooms
option 2:(micro coral and fish)
clown gobies (green and yellow varities) maybe like 3 of em
zoos
and a cleaner shrimp and sexy shrimps
option 3:(this would be a colorful one!)
a red a ndpurple firefish
some acans and ricordias
sexy shrimp and a flame shrimp
Anyways we'll see how the tank is looking towards the end of the week; hopefully I can get a clean up crew started by next weekend if the parameters are stable, since I used almost all mature water from my nano tank
As always tagalongs are more than welcome and any advice or opinions is appreciated!

Yay feedback! Can always count on meowZy. Now I've never kept sexy shrimps. Does anybody have good or bad experiences with them?

Yah I like how they perch on corals!
You do realize that they will kill sps......I have lost a few due to clown gobies in my 225G Needless to say....I no longer have clown gobies in my 225G

LOL....Do you have to get technical with me

Well, all I know is they sit in them, and somehow it kills them....I had an sps go white in less than 24 hours...and the next in a matter of days....they killed a birdsnest too :(
I actually lost 3 SPS before I was able to get the 2 clown gobies out

Ok. Good to know. I'm not super technical either. I try and go off personal experiences and based off others when I can. I don't think I would be keeping sps's though in thus small of a tank. Not sure if the lights could handle it.

The clown gobies love to sit in the acros. However the acros don't usually love them sitting there and get irritated to the point, sometimes, of just giving up. I also see that any of your options include sexy shrimp. From what I am reading on another site where the have a 3 gallon tank contest going, a lot of people have put them in the tanks only to get them out again becase they are picking at the coral causing problems. Just a heads up. You probably also know that the mushroom can end up taking over a small tank.

Ok I did not know sexy shrimp weren't reef safe. Maybe it's just an issue in a smaller tank where live rock is a premium? If I go with the Shroom option it'd be an only Shroom tank with multiple varities but that one seems kind of boring.

Here is a picture of a Pico from another site. 2 years old.

Be aware this guy works this tank a lot. Always fragging and moving things around to get it to this point.

Holy cow that's alot of stuff. I suppose I could add more corals to my list. I'll technically have around 4watts per gallon with my lighting. Wasn't planning on anything sps; what do you think the 50/50 pc bulbs could support? (there's 2 10 watt ones)

Option one......
But I can't comment on the sexy shrimp because I don't know much about them. But the pistol may very well eat them if it grows big enough.

Ok, I'll have to look into sexy shrimps a bit more, I'm gonna dig up my invert book and see what is says about sexies....

according to my invert books; sexy shrimp in nature are found with LPS or an anemone, and are best kept in groups of 3. They are reef safe; however may feed off the mucus of their host.
So I guess it seems as though I'd be able to get some, but may have to wait till I have some corals established first, so may be a little while.
As for getting along with a pistol; it says that
Pistol shrimps are not known to cause other invertebrates harm
Ok well anyways, heres an updated tank shot since the water has cleared.

I need to do aquascaping. From the looks of it, it needs more rock(asthetically speaking), but I will probably wait till I add some corals, since if i get acans they typically come on large rocks.
