new porky puffer won't take ANY food - yet - it's been a week now -

feeding the tank cubes of mysys and then butterfly and angel diet -
in addition , a crushed mix of flake that includes - brine shrimp plus, formula 2 , formula 1 , and reef mix -
also some spectrum pellets and formula 2 pellets on occassion -
recieved the fish from mail order , so i had no opportunity to see it eat before -
puffer acts fine , just won't eat yet -
any suggestions on how to get it started ?

Offer it something more substantial. Small pieces of chopped clam or mussel. Scallop, squidd or chopped shrimp. You can try a bit of garlic extract as a food soak. It sometimes gets a reluctant fish to eat. Also, watch for any white stringy feces. It could indicate an internal bacterial infection. How big is the puff?

Agreed with the post above, he will also need food in the actual shell on occasion to keep his beak from overgrowing.

Mine also took awhile to eat. After a few days he started with silversides with garlic and after that he was just fine. I feed him clams with shells every now and then to help with his beak. Now he is like a puppy, he can be totally full but still wants more.
