Sweet. Your gonna love it. I am sure you have seen mine around, very similar 96"36"x16". I also built mine inwall. If you have any questions, feel free to ask away. If you can swing the money for the reeflo 250 skimmer, I strongly suggest it. Also when I got mine I told the wife it would take a year or so to setup, well it had water in it in less then 2 months.

I would really love to have a Reeflo, but they are external only, external skimmers tend to scare me. . . lol. There is literally no where for this tank to go in my house now, it is being stored in my sisters garage right now. If there was room, trust me, it would be going up sooner than later.

this is gonna be awesome..i love shallow tanks..
I wish the tank was 24" just to give it a little more room for corals to grow. The thing I love about it most is the 48" front to back.

Don't let it being external scare you. The only time anybody had problems was if they set it too high before it was broke in. It is without doubt the best skimmer I have ever used. Once it is broke in and I set the water level I have not ever had to touch it. The only thing I do is clean the cup once a week. If they could come up with an auto flush system for these you would never have to touch it.

Well, did some serious cleaning tonight, of the tank and the garage. Sanding the inside will start at the end of the week. I am going to order my sand paper and Novus this week sometime. Not much else to report other than I am going to start all my AutoCAD drawings of the tank, plumbing, filtration and lighting tomorrow. Ill keep you guys updated with that tomorrow.

that is some serious cleaning, lookin great so far!!!
I spend about 6-7 hours total this weekend cleaning it. I also got a killer deal on a Reef Flo Dart pump. Got it for $149.95 brand new!! This will most likely be a closed loop pump, so I can now start planning my CL.

Awesome tank! With that much space you can have some cool aquascaping.

Nice score... just a tip on how I have cleaned used tanks in the past... fill the tank up with water, and for a 400 gal tank I would use 4-6 gallons of vinegar. let it sit over night and then just use your algae scrubber to get it off.. you may have to repeat it once or so to get the really stubborn stuff..
just a couple pics for reference: before when I picked up the sump:

after the process:

and here with water in ...BTW no scratches :)

Wow looks great. I have been soaking most areas in 100% vinegar to help break down some of the coraline. I'm not so much worried about the green algae, it will disappear as soon as I start sanding. What did you use to scrape off the coraline, the plastic "Kent" style scrapers?

Tank looks great! I talked to greg and I am going to meet up with him this saturday. I can't wait to see what all he has, hopefully he gives me a great deal on sum equipment! I wish I had room for 1 of those big acrylic tanks like you got, 12" tall or not it would still be sweet. Good luck with sandin the tank down, im sure it will look awsome when your done.

What part of Ohio are you in? And what did Greg have to say about my post?
