new pump/gph????

I'm moving my sump 8'-10' lower in my house than it is now. I have no idea what to replace my existing pump with. I'm assuming that I have to upgrade my pump size because the sump will be in the basement directly under the display tank on first level.
What GPH do most of you run your tanks at?
How do I figure out what my 1/15 horse 50psi Custom Sealife pump kicks out now?
Is it possible that it would be fine with an extra 15' to 20' of head?
Thanks a ton in advance
130 gallon. 2 built in overflows. 30 gallon sump directly underneith. Gravity feed and shot straight back 3/4" to two returns.

You need to search the internet for a "head loss calculator". That will give you a general idea what size.

Thanks a ton I appreciate the help.
What is the ideal gph that you all try to create in your tanks? How many times should a tank turn over?

IME, the over flow can only handle 400-500 gallons safely. I have the old coner style. You have 2 so thats 800-1000 gallons.
Plus I have power heads and a closed loop. I think I run around 22X or so.

Thanks, Dudes.
I used the head calculator. (I can also use it for designing swimming pools.
). And I know what to shoot for on the GPH. This was a successful thread and I commend you all.

Thanks again.

Per hour I'm sure. My current tank is about 2000 gph or 20x per hour.
