acclimating my 3 head frag at the moment
This one is new to me and I didn't see it in the coral chart sticky at the top of this page...
Where should I place in my 90gal? I have 4x65wPC's (current) which I will either be replacing the bulbs on or upgrading. I do have a T5 strip that I can add to the tank.
Does it need to be spot fed?

Are you sure it is a hammer, I personally have never seen a purple tipped hammer. Goggle Catalaphyllia and take a look.
Can you post a pic?

That's what the person listed it as. I will have to pull the photo from the seller at home later this afternoon (damn firewalls block them at work).
It's definitely not an elegance. I just went through that nasty mistake

I'll try to take some photos when the frag is in the tank and opens up.
But I did google purple tip hammer and this is what came up:

It kind of looks like a purple tipped frogspawn or torch.......if that is what you have, they are gorgeous!!! I don't believe hammers come with those color tips either. Take a look on this site and see if the ends of the tips look like the ones on here. They tips are normally shaped kind of like anvils.

I'll have to post the pic from the seller.
The frag is starting to open at the moment (acclimating still)
But, it's still too early to tell what color the tips are.
I want to make sure I glue this one into the right place in the tank so it has a good chance of doing well. It was a really pretty frag so I went for it.

I would not glue it to anything allow your self the luxury of moving it to a location it likes best and makes fragging at a later date so much easier and I agree that pic in my opinion is not a hammer

I haven't glued it yet.. until I'm sure where it should go in the tank.
I'm afraid of my red spotted sandperch doing "remodeling" .. he has a tendency to pull or knock loose items around; I watched him drag my featherduster across the tank once - honestly didn't know the little bugger had that ability until I witnessed it.
I did place the branch with the frags on it in a hole in a rock to kind of anchor it a little for the time being.
I'll try to take pics when it's open. I can tell the tips are definitely purple and it's only opened a little at the moment.

If it is a hammer you will need to place it higher in the tank for the PC lighting and low to slightly moderate flow. PC lighting will sustain it but will not make it thrive, IME.

I would respectfully disagree about the PC I have personally seen and have hammers thriving with them but they do need to be positions near the top of the tank

I redid some of my rockscaping and placed the frag near the top. I also put the Acan frag near the top.
I will get some glue and have to set the hammer in place as it's already been played with :(

Careful with the Acan at the top, some will change lose their pretty colors with too much light.

I haven't glued anything down yet... where should I place it?
I only have 4x65w PC's
It's a gorgeous red & blue "wonder woman" frag

+1 as a user of PC lighting for 3 years I agree. I had a thriving frogspawn and hammer. Near the top.
Beautiful by the way, I like the purple!

Dani, for full confirmation we have acertained that it looks like a hammer, now if you will tast it and smell it we can emphatically say;
If it looks like a hammer, tastes like a hammer, and smells like a hammer then it must be a hammer!!!
