I have also heard you can take a small powerhead and point it at his foot in order to get him to detach.Maybe if you break a wall of the pot off you could do that after you can see his foot.

Pull the pot out of the water and turn it upside down, letting him hang above the water surface. Let his own weight slowly pull himself off as to not tear his "foot". You can slowly message his foot and help him, but be very gentle. Being out of the water will make him want to move and it can take a few minutes, just be patient. He will come off. If this doesnt work I'd just crack the pot and take the peice with him on it and place it back in the tank. Hope this helps.

i would totally advise against breaking the pot. you will cut the darn thing up like mad.
take the pot out of the water, but leave the bubbles in the water. it will move.

i have done that take out of the water technique too, it works.

Thanks, everyone. I really don't like the idea of breaking the pot. I will try taking him out of the water and see if that works. I will try this tommorow and let you know how it goes.

Wow!! I am glad he came out! He looks great and content! I feed mine mysis and silversides and they filter feed as well. I have 5 now from one single one like yours.

hey grats, it looks great! i keep feeding my BTA in the hopes the sucker will split, but no it just keeps getting bigger! is like 14" diameter now and growing!

yea, i have a GBTA that's about 8" diameter and i wish would split. a 14" one would blow my mind.

Try spot feeding silversides every other day. I think he will split! :happyfish
