New Reef

After a lot of reading I thought it was about time to add a thread of my own. I graduated from a small 30 gallon FOWLR .. with Xenia (1st coral) that is really coming along nicely.. To a 72 gallon bow front, LS, LR, and 260w moonlight.. I almost have it ready and cycled to start transfering things over however I need more Live rock or base rock to get my desired look. Any good ideas in cutting cost ?
Also I want to have Clown Fish, Yellow Tangs, maybe some angels... Will I have any problems maintaining these fish ? I know that tangs will eat algae. Will theyalso eat like a regular green plant the one that is for sale here on this webiste. The leaf or a baber like one ?
A clean up crew is not something I had prior in my other tank. Can someone please aid in choosing the right snails, fish, or crabs ?
I also wanted to say that being my first post, be kind...

i'm not sure about your rock problem because i do not know how you want it to look, but i can help you with your species list.
as you said you wanted to add a tellow tang, that would be fine i reccomend you feed it nori (seaweed) covered in vitamins. a kole or scopas or any other fish from the zebrasoma list should be fine if you decide to change
clownfish would be fine
if you were to get pygmy angels most are reefsafe such as flame angel, coral beauty, lemonpeel angel.
as for your reef clean up crew i would go with about 50 turbo snails clean glass 20 scarlet leg crabs clean gravel 4 emerald crabs clean gravel if you do not plan to get a hawkfish then shrimp are an available option like 2 peppermint and one cleaner shrimp to clean any parasites off of your fish
Goodluck wit what you choose

Base rock is a great way to get more rock without having to pay the insane price for live rock. Eventually, your LS and other LR will seed the base rock and make it live.

You could have a single yellow tang in a 72 gallon, but not multiple ones. I also wouldn't recommend putting in any other tangs other than the single yellow... there's just not enough swimming room.
Clownfish are fine... go for a pair of them.
As for angels, stick with the dwarf angels like the flame or the coral beauty. They tend to be territorial, so in that sized tank, you'll only be able to have one. No large angels... they need a larger tank than a 72.
I know that tangs will eat algae. Will theyalso eat like a regular green plant the one that is for sale here on this webiste. The leaf or a baber like one.

For feeding your tangs, I recommend an algae clip with dried seaweed sheets or nori.

If you get crabs, go for scarlet reef hermits... they are the most peaceful of the hermits. Emerald crabs and sally lightfoot crabs are good too.
As for the snails, check out this thread by Kip4130 called "My Take on Various Snails". There's a lot of good info... https://forums.saltwaterfish.com/f/

I hope I was kind enough. :)

Thanks for your help .. The problems I have run into is that is is very hard to start up.. not so much getting the equipment is just planning and researching what you want to have.. I think I have spent countless hours reading this board... I appreciate your quick responses...

It can be a little daunting at first, trying to get all the information you need and figuring out what you need to do. It's good that you are doing lots of research though... it will help you be more successful in the long run. Good luck!! :)
