I am starting my first reef tank soon. Its going to be in a 45 gallon, that will be run with a sump/refuge. going to put about 75 lbs of live rock in, curing now. my question is about lighting. I need opinions on what to run. I would rather spend the money now, rather than, replacing lights later. All opinions are appreciated tanks

Just my opinion but 2 large tangs is too much. I had a sailfin and a powder blue and once they got big they were always getting in each others way and were very unhappy. I had to get rid of one and I had them in a 55 with only 2 false perculas and inverts at the time. My sailfin is getting so big I am wondering if I should get rid of him too. The hard part is he was my first fish and I am afraid someone at the lfs will grab him and put him in a small tank. As far as lights I have the jbj compacts with 2 96 watt bulbs and have many corals that are thriving. Unless you want clams they seem to be sufficient.
