New Reefer in the Making!!

I am soooooooo stoked......after many years of doing FOWLR, my husband and I have decided to take the step into reefkeeping. We ordered a pair of Aqua-Medic metal halide pendants a few weeks ago for our 125 gallon, and from there the whole thing has exploded.
This weekend we upgraded our 125 gallon and purchased an already-drilled 240 gallon tank. It was totally spur of the moment but we got a good deal on the 240 gal. tank, and we hadn't bought any other equipment for the 125 yet, so we just decided to go with it. The aquarium store is selling our 125 for us.
I just wanted to tell the world...I can't wait to get this beast up and going!! :jumping:

Spur of the moment and spontinaeity (sp) great for shopping and relationships. So now you have a tank, lights, rock and sand from old set up - MAKE A PLAN! I think it's the real secret of success. Research, plan, and stick with it. GOOD luck and boy do I remember the excitement. Startif a reef got the whole family pulling together, deciding, planning, and doing!

Congrats on your new tank. Post pics when you get it set up.
Why not turn the 125 into a sump/fuge for your 240 instead of selling it? Just a thought..

Aw, it would just beak my heart to use my beautiful 125 as a sump! We do have a sump built for the 125 already, but I think it may be too small (It's a standard 55 gallon tank with baffles inside.) I may have no choice but to consider a bigger sump before we set the 240 up. However, the 125 is also too long to fit under the stand of the 240, which is what I need. They are both six feet long, but the 240 is wider and deeper.

Whoa!! Your boy dwarfs mine...I call Neo my "Girly Boy" because he's on the small side--about 135-145 pounds, depending on his exersize level.
I'll post pics, but since we are researching a lot about how we really want to do this, it may be a while before it's up and going. Thanks for the help, everyone.

on my 300 i use 55 gaallon fuge and 45 gallon sump, so if i were you i would use the 125 for both and it willbe perfect! i use mine for a reef tank and frag propagation so thats a thought also.
another thign you might want to look into if your handy is build your own stand for the new tank and put a viewing window in so you can see your refugium like this. I LOVE IT and the tank doesnt go to waste! since this old picture i have packed mine up with corals and some small little colorfull fish! sorry for the bad pic but you get the point
