i am thinking of making a rubbermade refugium for my 40 reef.
what size would you reccomend?what plants or cleaners?lighting?sand and lr?
thanks and i dont have any place under my stand for it so where else could i put it?

20 gal. would probably be a nice size..
Choose the container carefully, some rubbermaid types have been known to burst under the weight of the water pressing on the sides. Just a warning.
You can put the refugium pretty much anywhere. If above the display you will pump water to the fuge, if below display level you will have to pump water out of the fuge.
Search around the forums for pics for ideas....
Ingredients:
live rock
sand
marine plants (macro algae and such)
clean up crew (optional)
micro fauna (pods, worms, etc....)
Lights (normal flourescent or better)
Heater (optional)
Return pump or over flow (depends on position)

Hiya!,
Any of your plastic containers run the risk of becoming brittle after exposer to intense light. Under pressure from water, it may burst.
I suggest going for a 20gal aquarium. They are not that exspensive.
