New Rics

Last week SWF had green rics, buy one get one, so I jumped. They have been in my tank for about a week. These are my first corals and I'm pretty excited.

NICE...I got all my rics from SWF too....As long as you glue them down...so they don't float off you should be fine with them...LOL....Obviously I have had one float off...you learn from your mistakes though

This may be a dumb question, when I got them they were already in the process of splitting. Will the baby rics attach themselves to the LR or will the only place they will be attached is the original one that is glued?

I'm not really sure, I think when they split they still stay attached to the original one....I have one group that has grown....but stayed together

Beautiful find. My favorite the Florida Ricordea's. I have an orange one and a purple ones.
When they split they will move over and form their own. The Yumas drop babies along the way but these guys split. So no need to do anything unless they become loose, you would then want to make sure you put them into a low flow area with a piece of rock so they will attach.
For the most part though they will do just fine as they are. Enjoy they are beautiful corals.

I've had one float off before as well, unfortunately that little guy went deep into the reef. I've also heard they attach better to smooth shell surfaces, and commonly can be found on cleaner clams in the wild.
