well its here (earlier than expected with the snow we are having)
apparantly fed ex hates walt smith boxes but loves SWF.com boxes as you can see in the first two pictures, I think they threw the box down a set of steps. the SWF box totally unscathed. fed ex hates walt smith. (fortunatly I love rubble rock and these werent all show pieces) no harm no foul.
the rock looks nice, man dont I love fiji rock all holey and pourous (thats a little redundant) the colors look good too, there is one rock that has some serious SPS skeletons on it I cant tell if they are alive or not but just incase I'm going to put lights over the rock.
here are some pictures of the stuff. (remember I asked for smaller rocks and just a couple larger pieces) they gave me exactly what I asked for I'm impressed.

Thats really cool but I bet the Fedex guy picked up the box and didnt expect it to be that heavy and dropped it or something haha. Good rock there. I wish I had that available here.

That's some nice looking rock! I'm definitely ordering 50lbs from here in about 2 months, everyone seems to think it's great stuff.

when I get around to setting up something large (I have been eyeballing some 300+G tanks) I think I am going to order my show pieces through here. if their show rocks look as good as the stuff they sent me I'll be happy as a kitten with a ball of yarn.

I think if walt smith took the word "rock" of his boxes and just left "fiji premium" fed ex maybe more careful not knowing what is inside thats "fragile"
I doubt the weight could have been a suprise unless the person cant read the box as it clearly states the weight on top of the box. (in rather big lettering I might add).
fed ex box thrower ape mindset "its a rock how can I hurt it" LOL sorry fed ex employees but the image that poped into my head is some cro-magnon knuckle dragger pitching boxes at a truck.

my to the door delivery people from fed ex are really nice. before everyone thinks I'm flameing fed ex. I just thought it was hilarious the little box with pictures of fish and LIVE written on it was pristine, and the one that says rock is beat to hell.

thanks 1journeyman, I keep going over to the tank and pulling random pieces out and inspecting them for any thing cool that I may be able to save via throwing it in my QT instead of the mass cure tank.

Hehe, yup. Picture of "Edgar", a gorilla crab that came in as a hitchhiker... had quite a battle with him to get him out of tank (I originally cycled my tank with life rock... mostly Pacific but a few pieces of Caribbean).
He was a brilliant adversary. I set up a seperate tank just for him. My youth loved him. He passed away a few months ago.

well update. the water is clear in the cure tank, I'm getting minute ammonia readings already, so I dosed a small amount of amquel to detoxify it, I'm going to let the ammonia hit 0.5 then do a waterchange. I already have more water premixing. looking down into the tank today I am doubly impressed with the condition of the rock, as well as the shapes and colors prevalent on the rock.

well my persistence in checking the LR over has payed off I found a piece that has 3 patches of unidentified SPS still alive on it.
I saw polyp extension and it blew my mind. (time to set up the QT) hopefully the SPS can manage on PC light untill the rock cures in qt.

Ah, you didn't have a qt set up already?
J/k I am glad that you are finding more and more on the rock.

I break down my qt when its not being used, my girlfriend thinks running an empty tank is a waste of electricity, now that I've figured out how to set it up without causing a cycle everytime I want something, it doesnt really bug me not having an empty QT kicking around. I actually get tired of answering guests questions about the empty tank.
