New School Tank

Okay, everyone. I have a 75 gallon tank at my house and I used regular Tap water 4 years ago and it took forever before I could get my tank under control to actually keep fish alive. Even Damsels did not make it. Of course I have learned from mistakes but now my tank at home is great. I have several fish and some soft corals doing very well. Anyway, I started a Saltwater tank at my School, because I teach 6th Grade Science and it was a small 55 gallon. It is perfect. I only have 3 fish in it but it will become a reef tank soon. My question is on my new 125 Gallon in our Library. We have had it running for many weeks, about 5 so far. I have checked the levels everyday except on Weekends. My kids enjoy helping. Anyways, the tank was filled with RO water, and the levels were perfect. I added some Live rock from my home and from the other tank to start the process of ammonia to Nitrite to Nitrate. The Algae growth is very bright Green Algae in some parts but some Brown algae as well. The Levels in the tank are .25 to .5 for Ammonia, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 0-5. These are ranges over the last 2 weeks. Before that is was perfect all around. I know that I am looking for an ammonia spike but I have not seen any yet. I put a Purple Mushroom from my tank at home to maybe get it to spike but it seems to enjoy itself and is doing fine. I guess I am just asking what do you all think is my next move. I do not want to add Damsels, because I personally can not stand the little devils.
I appreciate all the help everyone gives on these forums. It really helps.

Mushroom corals don't produce enough waste to spike a tank, especially a 125 gallon. based on the algae growth, I personally would say that you are already on your way through the cycle, but if you want to see a spike, I would dump two or three cocktail shrimp into the tank and allow them to sit till they start to decompose.
