Hello everyone. I have been looking at some used tanks and have a question. I might purchase a 75 galloon established tank. If i keep the live rock and some of the water would i still need to cycle? Also when i transport the rock should i just keep the rock in a storage bin with the saltwater in it?
I had a tank back in high school about 10 yrs ago so im excited to get back in. However after reading the boards here i see i did a lot of things wrong back then. I had a lionfish, yellow tang, and a snowflake eel in a 30 gal tank! Im shocked the lived as long as i had the tank.
Thanks for any help!

If the tank is healthy looking's try to carry over as much water as possible. The LR should be fine as long ad you keep it damp, would have minimal die off, but if you can keep it submerged during the transport even better. Either way you'll probably have a small cycle.

Thanks. Its not a far drive. Im planning on using some storage bins for the rock. The tank now has crushed coral and i want to use sand. I am planning on buying a bag of live sand and mix it with a few bags of regular sand.

If you can make or buy fresh ro water you are better served making your own saltwater
