I got my first eel yesterday! He's close to a foot long and been at the LFS for about six months. I know the lady that works there so he in good health. He ate some krill today so was way happy about that. Is there anything i should know being that this is my first eel? I heard something about soaking his food in minced garlic is this good? Thanks for the help!

soaking his food is not nessary..just mix up his food so he doesnt get sick of one thing...it is not uncomon for an eel to go on a mini hunger stike as well..good luck with the new eel and make sure your take has a tight lid or he will get out.

i would soak, keep him healthy, and try to keep the foods varied. they are great starter eels, if you have a good , tight , lid then he should live a long time.

wanabebell is right, eels can get ich it is a common misconseption. most people think sharks cant get ich either but they can, it is rare but still possible
