heres a full tank shot(almost) as you can see it looks empty cause the shark is in his cave and the ray is buried... also a shot of my shark and new crab

Yeah it was a joke, following up his "it's in a 55" comment.

I'm so tempted to go get the egg I saw yesterday at the lfs. I have some storage tubs I could hatch it in and then transfer it to a large plastic garden pond in the shop when it warms up enough. It was still tiny in the egg, more than likely wouldn't hatch for a few months anyways

Wow, great looking tank! Is it alot harder to hatch an egg rather than buying one (the shark already hatched)?

50/50 shot either way.
Thers down falls to each .
hatching can take some patientce. getting them to eat , But they are more likely to adjust to the tank better.
already hatched might be eatting healthy but then the shock of being put into a new system can stress them out.

Which would you suggest for a first shark? I definatly have the patience. I think it would be really cool to hatch an egg myself. Whats so hard about getting them to eat? What do they eat when they first hatch?

some sharks are hard to get to eat period(not mine thank god) but when they hatch you most liekly have to take them out and tube feed them. Its ALOT more dedication than one thinks. i know the thread titled my baby nala that was hatched from an egg and she explains what she had to do and tube feeding etc. and she explains in detail the time and dedication she had to it.
BTW thanks for the nice comments bout my tank..im tryin to get some full tank shots when the ray and shark are feeding

that is a very cool shark.. never seen that kind before.. but anyways i would seriously suggest not hatching it for a first shark.. its really just as cool just to buy one and youll more than likely miss it hatching anyways.. and if it doesnt start eating and dies you have to start over again!!!!! its really a big pain lol so if you absolutely feel you MUST hatch it from an egg.. be prepared to lose one cuz it MAY happen.. good luck if you go for it!!!!

I am getting a 180g, or I will build a larger one (not sure, since I dont want a 240g tank to be my first DIY tank). I will probably buy the used 180g. Plus, my LFS sells eggs and sharks. So I can buy one from there. Why do you say to keep it by its self? WIll fish pick at it? Right now, all I have is a Blue Tang, 2 Percula Clowns, and a Yellow Watchmen Goby.
