yea I agree... It is definitely a whitespotted bamboo.... Not like my marbled cat shark...haha

I wish I had a smaller tank to put him in... But instead I had a friend guarantine him for 6months to make sure he was eating right before I put him in my tank.. I like your idea of the live ghoat shrimp... i may try that... to see if he "goes hunting" haha

is that your tank? if it is, you should take some of that rock out to maximize swimming room for your shark

yea it is mine...and look at my avatar.. I only have the rock on the left side of the tank (this is a close up)... when he wants he comes out of his cave... The cave is very deep for him too under the rock so he moves around pretty freely under the rock.. but when he wants to.. he can come out and play on the right side of the tank... He likes hiding under ther rocks.. doesn't come out much anyway.

Wow, congrats!!!! the key is a varied diet here. krill, squid, snails, shrimp, crabs......you can get some live crustaceans from the lfs for him to forage for and then hand feed him the frozen stuff. Definitely soak them in vitamins.

Thta is a pretty small shark from the comparison of the rock to the tank. Congrats on getting him to eat and eat different foods. That is the hardest part for sharks. Id love to have one in the future. They are amazing.

So I had to rearrange my live rock today b/c one of them fell when I was feeding my shark some krill... So now i have a completly new set up.. it actually looks nicer b/c the live rock is spread throughout the tank instead of left side dominant... BUT... now my shark is in the back and i can't see him to feed him.. what do you recommend I do to get him some food?? He will be ok for a couple of days bc i fed him last night and today.. he is probibly stressed from all the live rock rearranging... but still any thoughts?? gracias.

latinlord, how long did it take yours to swim after hatching? bc mine is trying to swim, but not getting far. First time having a shark, so any help would be nice. thanks.

it can take a couple of weeks.. don't worry too much he'll learn.. try picking him up and holding him at the top of the tank then letting him go down.. that invariably force him to move around and see what his little body can do..ie swim..haha

i'm so tempted to rearrange my tank's live rock again... now the rocks look more proportionate to the tank.. but my shark hiding way in the back. I like to be able to have an idea where he is.. the cave I made for him is good, but he is way in the back so I can't see him.. and if I can't see him.. and he doesn't see me.. i can't feed him and he won't eat!
aquariums give me anxiety.. b/c i'm such a perfectionist..
As you can see.. the rock is more spread out and actually looks nicer.. but now I think i need to find a way to keep this arrangment, but block off the back wall so my shark doesn't go back there and actually make him a cave outside the back of the wall so BOTH he will be comforable and hidden and I will still be able to know exactly where he is so i can put food infront of him to eat. Any thoughts?

allow your shark to hide. It needs to feel comfortable. If it gets stressed it wont eat then die. Also You can try and add some scent to the tank to get the shark activated. If he is hungry and eating no worries. If you go a week or two without him able to eat then worry. Dont build the cage to your needs. Build it to his. Give this aquascape a chance. You keep moving stuff around and causing stress. Just chill out for a while.

lol.. you are soooo RIGHT crypt keeper! so right... good news I can see him again! in a smaller hole, but he is there.. I can't help it.. i guess i'm always in need for a change... it is tough enough not buying new fish every week.. haha.. .But at least I can see him now so I know he is breathing and alive and well. Although I haven't tried to feed him yet with the new aquascape, i'll probibly wait a while.. all my fish are kinda stressed from the moving of the rocks. I do need to chill for a while... if you knew me though.. you would see i'm a VERY Hyper Anxiety driven person.. so the peacefulness of marine life is something that I probibly need to relax... Thanks for the insight! I was truly just worried about my shark b/c i couldn't see him and I always think the worst like he is ill or stuck...

looks like a white spot bamboo shark.. within one yr he will reach 2 ft long.. he required daily feedings a couple times per day and plenty of swimming room ..if hes in a small tank you better upgrade fast.. they feed on fish and crustations.. if you have cc substrate you may want to switch to sand as the cc will cause damage to the sharks skin

chevster,
Now, why would i joke around on keeping a shark in a 20 gallon? That is just stupid to say that?
He is in my 100 gallon tank. I moved the tank to my place already since my parents did not want to deal with it.
You want pictures, i can give you some. If you still think I am keeping him in a 20 gallon tank. :)
