Chicago's Shedd Aquarium is opening a new shark, coral reef exhibit this spring. Members only on April 11, 12, and 13. Features 750,000 gals with 30 sharks, 500 species of colorful reef fish, and live coral. Anyone going?

Ya I'm definitely gonna go see it...Although I'm looking foreward to seeing the new reef exhibit rather than the sharks...should look good :)

I didn't mean for this to compare aquariums, but...... I've been to Boston's, Key West's, North Carolina's and not to be biased, but the Shedd is by far superior to them.. (I'm biased)... Anyone agree/disagree?

I sometimes receive packages at work from organizations looking for donors, and got one from the Shedd a few weeks ago specifically about the new exhibit. The package included one of those business card CD-Rom's that had a whole bunch of artists renderings on it. The shark tank alone is 450,000 gallons, and the reef exhibits are all pretty large as well; 750,000 gallons in total (including sharks). That exhibit is gonna look sweet! Some of the exhibit looks reminiscent of Atlantis. I can't wait!

This looks very cool...the Shedd does a nice job with all its exibits. The Amazon Rising is pretty cool and the seahorses are not to be missed.
BTW, I read an article in which it talked about how they get their salt water...the same way we do, mixing commercial salt with fresh water, what a pain that must be to mix tens of thousands of gallons worth.

I've been to the Shedd, New Orleans, Baltimore, Chattanooga, and Denver (I think it was Denver). They were all very nice. Bo

When I took my basket starfish there and got to tour behind the scenes it was amazing. Plumbing, water, vats, tanks everywhere.
I saw the sharks they're putting into the new exhibit and had the opportunity to "pet" them, I passed. They were a little lively acting at the time :)
When you go, be sure to go visit my basket starfish.
