I just resieved a shipment (from another site:nope: ) of 5 sps corals and samall maxima clam
Each coral is about 2 inches (on Procipoora, 3 Acropora, and a brids nest) My water levels are fine and i have 2 metal halides so i think they should be fine (always nervous) I acllimated them for about 30 minutes and 2 of the acroporas polyps have come out but the others haven't and i by accidently broke a small branch on the bird nest coral.
I just have a few question:
Did i do anything wrong or should i have something else for my corals?
Do you think the bird nest and the others will be all right?
I have all of them in direct light and strong to moderate light flow is that good?
And what is the growth rate of the corals?
(don't mistake me for not doing my "homework" cause i assure you i have researched the corals nonstop i just want some experience aquarists thoughts)
Thanks
Brad

you only acclimated for 30 min? imo you should do atleast 1 hr if ordered from onlinbe. also if you just got it it still may be in shock from trans. so give it time.Good luck:yes:

Brad,
I don't see a problem. Breaking the birds nest up will jus give you more frags.

You'll want to acclimate them to your lights. I'd start with 4 hours a day and work up 1/2 hr every few days. Or you could put a few sheets of egg crate over the tank and remove one every few days. Regardless of what light they came from. They should still be acclimated.

I have always floated the bag for 20 mins. Take coral out of the bag. Stand their looking at it for 45 seconds, and place in tank. It will slime up out of water. That will protect it from PH, SG, ect... swings. :D
